I started the walking group, Walking with The Waste Land, three years ago in Margate as part of the research group working with A Journey with the Waste Land at the Turner Contemporary. More about this can be found on my links menu button and further pages about walking.
I am interested in the process of walking , using poetry and site to create collaborative walks with invited artists and friends. I have also asked participants to record the experience of the walks by making knots in hand made ropes which I make for the walks. This has allowed me to develop my use of textiles as part of my art practice and to explore the potential of using textiles as a form of documentation.
Through sited poetry readings ,performance and interventions we collaboratively explore the links between the pariticpants, the site and selected texts allowing new encounters and interpretations to occur.
These walks have developed further by engaging with community groups, and artists I have invited to join me through the various artists networks I have worked with.
If you would like to join any of these walks please let me know by email and I will add you to my mailing list.
